The outdoor unit is typically either installed in the garden, mounted on the roof of the building or the outside wall. It contains the compressor, propeller fan, circuit board and heat exchanger. Refrigerant is compressed by the outdoor unit and extracts either the heat or cold to or from the paired indoor unit.
